Tips - Check out our top 5 tips and tricks list if you want to gain an edge over your competition. Whether your competing with your friends and family  or your rivals in a competition, surely some of these tips can come in handy

Beginners Tips

Choosing the right ball for you
Weight -Balls are measured in pounds (lbs)

Balls from 6lbs to 8lbs are for children from 5 to 10 years old.
Balls from 10lbs to 12lbs are for older children and women.
Balls from 12lbs up to 16lbs are  mainly for men.

Try to find the best weight for you, if you choose a ball that is too light for you, you wont get the best ''Pin Action'' , i.e. the balls will bounce off the pins, but Choosing a ball too heavy could cause you an injury

Holes -All house balls have different size holes, its very rare to find 2 balls with the same size holes.

Once you have chosen your weight , place your forefinger, middle finger and your thumb in the holes. Making sure your thumb slides nicely in and out of the  thumb hole, if it is too tight, when you try to release the ball it may not come off your hand, which may cause an injury to you or other bowlers.

Once you have selected the right ball for you, you are ready to start '' bowling them over''.

Top Tips

When releasing the ball try and keep your hand behind the ball with your thumb at ''12 oclock'' position. This will help the ball roll nicely off your hand and in a straight direction.

Also after releasing the ball raise your arm straight up past your right ear (left ear for left handers). This will also help the direction of the ball and is called your ''follow through''.

Scoring

The most complicated thing about bowling is the scoring. Although at ''Harleys Superbowl'' your scoring is done automatically, here is an insight as to how the scores are worked out.

Tip 1

With the ball in hand, position yourself with the dots on the approach and the arrows on the lane. This may take some fine tuning, but will help you to find your perfect ''Strikeline''.

Tip 2

Try releasing the ball with your hand behind the ball, not on top. This will help you to roll the ball onto the lane and not throw it.

Tip 3

After releasing the ball raise your arm up past your right ear (if your left handed then vice versa). This is called ''Follow Through'' and will help the balls direction and help your accuracy.

Tip 4

When rolling the ball onto the lane its much better to bend your knee and not your back

Tip 5

Speed is not the best remedy for a strike. Rolling the ball at a moderate speed will get you the best ''Pin Action'' you need.
